Zion National Park is located in the Southwestern United States in Utah. A massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soar into a brilliant blue sky. Experience wilderness in a narrow slot canyon. formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river.
There are many beautiful hiking trails in all difficulty levels. My favourite would be the Angels Flight but on my visit it was closed because of bad weather. For this you should schedule at least 6 hours. A very good alternative would be to walk along the Slot Canyon next to the river, because you don´t need so much time.
In the center of the national park you can find some parking lots and from there you can join the free buses which are driving between the hiking points. Follow the link to a Roadmap of the Park: (click here)
The park entrance fee is $30 per car. But if you plan to visit also other national parks in the USA, i really recommend a Interagency Annual Pass for $80 per car. This pass provides access to more than 2,000 recreation areas. (click here)

After our little stopover at the bakery and the cafe from my last travel report, we started our way to the Zion National Park.
On this day we had no luck with the weather because it began to rain heavily.
We drove about 15 min after, crossing the entrance to reach the center of the Park with the official parking lots.
From there, you can start you explorations to the different trails of the park. You can use the free shuttle bus to come quickly around.

Amazing landscape and vegetation in the park. For the beginners, the Emerald Pools Trail and the Riverside Walk, where you can walk to The Narrows, are perfect. If you have no problems with a longer hike, i would highly recommend to take the Angels Landing trail to get a great view over the park.

An hour after arrival the weather began to get better.
Nevertheless, some hiking trails were still locked and so we could not enter the for example the "Angels Landing" trail.
After two hours of hiking we decided to find a restaurant because it was already 4PM and we were very hungry.
In the nearby village of Springdale we found some good eating places.

Springdale, UT 84767

Village next to the Zion National Park with a visitor center and some good restaurants and bars for a short stopover. But that was all what you can find there.

You get good Mexican food from a friendly and quick staff. The price is, in my opinion, a little bit too expensive.

Now we were on the road again and drove 420 km / 260 miles to our today's destination, Las Vegas.

4 hours later we reached our booked hotel, the Hooters Casino Hotel.
It was not really important to us which hotel we took, because it was only for one night.

Room was fine but the hotel itself is dated. The staff was friendly and the prices are also okay.
